Yes.
Long story but here's the short version.
Went to a psychiatrist for depression/suicidal thoughts.
He told me "Tell me where your guns are or go to the hospital."
I told AND ended up there for 3 days.

No one is entirely reliable, but it's part of the fun. I remember how I begrudged my cousin when he told everyone in the family that I smoked, but at least, I was out. You often end up deriving some relief or comfort from those breaches, and I suspect that when you start entrusting someone with a shameful confession, you sometimes secretely wish the person will spare you the trouble of having to make a clean breast of it before everyone you care for. Confiding is an admission of weakness: that you can no longer cope with the burden of being the only one who knows, so why not fully accept the consequences, that is, to be faced with your own self, to be forced to be who you are publicly? Turn a weakness into an asset: if the hat fits, wear it: it's a helmet!

I have. Unfortunately it was when I had a little too much to drink and confided in someone that I might otherwise have not. Learned my lesson with that one for sure! Everyone found out...

Definitely true. But it's been a long time since I've made that same mistake. I guess you learn. Good question.

Of course. But it happens. Lesson learned. You learn to choose who you trust, more wisely.
