Yeah, and flying pets tend to be picky eaters. I used a bear with my orc hunter from level 40 on (tamed a feralas bear). He deals a lot of damage and has a ton of health so he can take a lot of punishment. If you decide to go for a cat, try to get the black cat Humar that spawns just north of Ratchet in the Barrens, or you could tame Echeyakee like every other horde hunter. I started a horde toon on my PvE realm just so I could get the Echeyakee quest and summon him for my alliance friends to tame.

Well it depends...
If you play alliance, then i have no clue lol probably a cat type maybe...
But horde on the other hand, lol i play horde.. i have a level 58 hunter just about to ding 59.. and ive had a mottled boar since 10... people say cats are nice, but board have charge and a higher Dps than a cat..
if youre a hordie then you can easily find one in durotaur by the barrens, right next to razor hill.. their pretty easy to tame since they dont have any interrupting attacks...

Petopedia is awesome, my only advice is nothing that flies. One of my pets is an owl and when backing into a corner waiting either for respawn or waiting on health and mana regen without agroing, you can't see anything, the wings flap in front of of the camera view, it sucks.

Cat types have the fastest attack speed, so they are very good for pvp for interrupting casters.
Bears are good all around. They have lots of damage, good armor, lots of hp.
I think those are the best 2 pet types.
