A more or less straight route is @ 2800 miles. If you could maintain an average speed of 60MPH, and didn't have to stop for anything, you could do it in less than 47 hours.

I would have to stop @ 9 times for gas, and would prefer to stop for sleep every 8-12 hours (depending on how fast I needed to get there). I also like to make the most out of trips like that by stopping at interesting places, and eating at local restaurants. Why would anyone want to spend all that time driving and not see what America has to offer?

If I was going to drive from LA to New York as part of a vacation, it'd probably cost me at least a week's time each way, and more than a $1,000 in gas and motels. If I just wanted to get there, I'd fly (that'd cost @ 1/3 as much, and take less than a day). If I was moving, I'd fly and ship everything else.

The NYC subway system is 209 miles. When you include the Staten Island RR, PATH, LIRR, and other commuter rail, there is somewhere around 1400 miles of rail. The LA subway is 17 miles. When you include the light rail and Metrolink commuter rail, it is 585 miles. Parking in the NY financial district can be over $500 per month. Downtown LA is only around $150.

yea 3-4 days, Oklahoma has the best rest stops and is the place most likely to get a ticket but interstate 40 is the best road this time of year. Just remember to bring spare change for all the toll roads you'll hit around Maryland and time your drive so you don't hit rush(3)hours in major cities especially around DC and NYC

I have driven cross counrty 3 times twice from NYC and once from DC. It took me 3days and 2 nights. To go from Woodside NY in Queens to Orange county Ca. In hours it took me 44 hours of driving on average. It also depends on who you are driving with and wheather they are going to drive or just sleep the whole time or Nag you for going to fast or too slow. lol

2462 miles from LA to NYC.

if you do 12hours of driving a day, it would take you 2.5 days as long as you keep pressure on the gas pedal (90mph).
