I am such a contrarian! I can't answer true or false, because I think it hinges on our understanding of the term scared. By my use of the word, false. I am cautious, inquisitive, and of course sometimes scared of what we don't know, but not always scared. Skeptical initially? Definitely. Threatened if it seems to be in opposition to what we believe we know and are comfortable with? Definitely. But scared? I'm not sure. I think of scared as a state where one is paniced and will do whatever is necessary to combat whatever scares us. So using that usage, I can't say scared because I do find things I don't know, am not familiar with, etc, to be very enriching to my life sometimes. Perhaps when I was younger and thought that all of my views of the world were right then maybe I was scared. But as I've learned to appreciate and even embrace things unknown to me previously, I am not scared. I am still cautious though, and as with everything I am skeptical.
Gee, that was a long-winded response to a simple "true or false" question, huh? Sorry, I can't help but explain myself.
And I wish I was a semi-punk rocker, like Green Day!! lol
EDIT: About your atheist comment, I think atheists believe what they do for a variety of reasons. Some may fear, but even for those who have a religious belief, they technically don't "know" the bigger picture, so to speak. So it is still an unknown for everyone, it is just that some have an inkling of what they believe the truth to be. In some ways, one could argue that an atheist embraces the unknown, since they claim that what lies behind, around, and ahead of us is entirely unknown. Just some thoughts, and thoughts at 4:15am aren't always coherent.

No offense, but what you just said makes no sense. What does being afraid of the unknown have to do with not believing in God. You've left out some really important details here that might actually explain your "interesting" thought processes.
I can't even tell you just how many Christians come on here daily and say something like "Isn't it better to just go ahead and believe than to take the chance of going to hell if you're wrong and there really is a god". If you ask me, that's pretty good proof that it's actually the Christians who are believing because they're scare. You're scared of God aren't you? Isn't that one of the reasons why you believe, because you're scared of His retribution? I still can't figure out why you would think atheists don't believe because they're scare. If anything, they're brave compared to Christians. At least they're willing to take the risk that they may be wrong.
