it wasn't really unexpected. Lots of teams fall flat against Australian bowlers.
I am a neutral indian living in USA -- i don't take sides or favor any 1 specific team, but i am tired of seeing Australia win over and over again.
I would like to see a change and a new country gain dominance. Since 1999 I have seen nothing but Australia on the top almost all the time.
So it wasn't completely unexpected for me that India would be out by 196. Tendulkar and Ganguly played well. Kumble played well. Its because they are very experienced and aging player.
But so are Australians. Ricky Ponting, Gilchrist, Hayden, etc etc have been playing for a very long time too and have lots of deep experience too.
Every country performs bad against Australia because the australian bowlers bowl perfect line and length almost every delivery -- this is what makes it so hard for oppositions to bat good.
Australia is talented in all sports, not just cricket. Even in olympics they win lots of golds, silvers and bronzes.
That is just the way it is, and nothing can be done. In life sometimes you have to accept things the way they are even if you don't like it or don't want it.

The old trend of Indian batting repeated in the first test too. Actually when India started batting, they were under no pressure of chasing a huge score and if the batsmen applied themselves and played with great resolution and determination, they could have easily matched their total, and given a scare to Australia. However, except for Sachin and to some extent Ganguly, all other batsmen failed miserable and gave back the advantage to Australia. When Anil Kumble, who is a bowler can score 27 runs, it is a shame for other batsmen, who could not even reach double figure.

1.The Aussie bowlers give nothing away so easily. They are more accurate with good support from the field.
2.A good start is essential for good reply. The Indian openers should have been positive after a few cautious overs.
3.They were short of practice in Australian conditions though this is only a minor factor.
They will have a huge total and about two days to survive on the fourth and fifth day pitch.

ms dhoni and yuvi were a disgrace.
that was hopeless batting, and seeing how well aussies are doing so far in the 2nd innings already, either, India needs a very high total for their 2nd innings, or they can hope for a draw. The draw is probably their best hope
