There was a ad on the newspaper and they were giving a floor size of a store but is 10m^2 mean that the dimensions are
10 x 10? So the area would be 100m?

m^2 means square meters. So, 10m^2 means 10 square meters.
This does not refer to the actual diminsions of the store.
2m x 5m = 10m^2.

A simple rule of thumb.
Treat your unit listing like a variable.

2x times 5x = 10x^2.

A good example of this effect can be seen by comparing the computations of area and perimeter.
Consider a square with a side of length 5 meters.
Perimeter of a square = 4*Side = 4 * 5m = 20m.
Area of a square = side * side = 5m * 5m = 25m^2

The dimensions are not 10 x 10, if the area was 100m^2, then the dimensions would be 10 by 10. However, this is 10m^2 so the dimensions could be any two factors of ten such as 2m x 5m.

The area is actually 10 and its units are square meters, so the dimensions of the floor depend because we don't know which kind of shape it has.

For example , if we suppose it's a quadrate then the dimensions are:
√10 m = 3.16 m and obviously √10 m = 3.16 m, so if we do

dimension_1 by dimension_2 we get the 10 m^2:
√10 m*√10 m = 10 m^2

But if the floor has the shape of a rectangle, then the dimensions could be
5 m and 2 m, 4 m and 2.5 m or any other options.

10m² is about the size of a small to medium room. The total area would be 10m², but it's not 10m x 10m. It would be 3.16m × 3.16m for example or 5m × 2m, or in sections such that the TOTAL area is 10m².

It means that the area is 10 square meters, not 10X10 square meters. The dimensions could be more like 2.5 meters X 4 meters.

10m^2 = 1m x 10m = 2m x 5m

100m^2 = 1m x 100m = 2m x 50m = 4m x 25m = 5m x 20m = 10m x 10m

m^2 = 1m x 1m
10m^2 = say (5m x 2m)
and (10m)^2 = 10m x 10m = 100 m^2

You got it right expect the units. They should be 100 square meters.
