I am a prime example of the falsity of the Intelligence-Academic relation. I am intelligent, at least I like to think so. I average about a 130 on most IQ tests that I have taken. I have a photographic memory. I averaged a 4 of 5 on all my AP tests, AP Scholar with Distinction. I had above average SAT scores (not spectacular but I could have tried harder). ASVAB scores qualifying me for any military job I wanted. School was always very easy for me. However, I graduated High School with a 3.62 weighted GPA. I fail to see the point in doing homework when I can understand a concept as soon as I see it.
There is a very thin relationship between scores on aptitude tests and academic successes. They are on two completely different planes. The mathematician in me feels the need to mention that any relationship of two variables is going to show some relationship, even a slight one. This particular example is just too overly exaggerated.

i have two degrees one in pshchology and one in biology. i always fall below where i should be in an iq test. there is something called 'fear of failure'. when you perform under pressure. while taking the test, i am terrified that i won't do well, and so i don't. i don't know what the answer is supposed to be. but when i am in class there are other factors in getting a good grade than just final exams. besides, i am always so interested in the subject matter of the class, that i feel that it is wonderful to be learning new things and answering my own questions by doing research. facts stick in your head if you are interested in them, tests aren't frightening anymore because you have enough information to be able to do well.

anyone can study enough and get all A's in grad school. In fact, you can study enough and do well on SAT. It doesn't actually test your IQ.
