I'd like to know what it is I can do to be better focused, have more time for myself and to do better with my school work. What strategies do you suggest to help me "keep my head low" and work hard this next semester. This is 2nd semester of Junior year for me. Does hard work still count for anything?

hard work pays a lot. one thing that you will have to take note of is when you are better able to concentrate and to study better. some scholars prefer to study until late at night while others are early morning risers. whichever time suits you best, maximise on that time for personal study. reading widely is also important as you will most likely never forget the things that you've done your own research on. remember to maintain balance in everything as all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Hard work sure counts a lot. But remember not to just work hard, but to work smart. As the saying goes, “If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success.” That means: manage your time wisely; find out what methods of studying is best for each subject (i.e., how to learn the material the most enjoyable way, how to grasp the material & retain it the best way, etc. – there are definitely different ways); find out what each professor looks for from students; study during hours when you are most effective; etc. In summary, zero in on maximum efficiency in all areas as best as you can. In the midst of it all however, do not lose sight of the big picture. So when challenges come, don’t sweat it or complain. Just receive it in thanks as an opportunity for growth, and get to it. Remember that studying is only a part of your life. So exercise regularly. Eat healthily. Share moral support with friends who encourage and have positive attitudes towards life. Keep away from bad company. But most importantly, know – if you don’t already – that God is there to help you in all that you do, if you’d only ask. Best wishes.

Don't waste time and keep off the internet. Don't have distractions in your room that will keep you from doing homework and concentrate on getting everything done well.
