The side opposite the right angle in a right angled triangle.
The hypotenuse is the longest side in the triangle.

The longest side of a right triangle. It is the side across from the 90 degree angle. For example if you had a right triangle with sides of length 3,4, and 5 the hypotenuse would be 5. Also the hypotenuse squared is equal to the sum of the other two sides squared. Using the 3,4,5 triangle:
5^2=3^2+4^2
25= 9 + 16
25=25

hypotonuse?

Maybe you actually wanted to say: Hypotenuse

Hypotenuse is the side opposite to the right angle in a right triangle and it's always the longest side of the right triangle.

For example, if we have a right triangle in which the catheti (the other two sides) are 1 and 1, we find the hypotenuse as follows:

Hypotenuse = √(1^2 + 1^2) = √(1 + 1) = √2 = 1.4

As you can see, 1.4 is longer than 1, and 1.

This sounds similar to teh word hypotenuse which of course means the side of a right-angled triangle that is opposite the right angle.

Hypotonuse is clearly a different word.
Lets break down thy syllables
from the latin Hypo is to slow down, less than the normal
Ton, often used to mean alot but litterly 2000 lbs
use, to put into action like use your brain

so perhaps hypotonuse means to not use your brain much.

the hypotenuse is the longest side in a right angle triangle. if the triangle is not tilted in any direction, it is the diagonal side.

lets say that was a triangle that was a right triangle, then the diagonal side would be the one known as the hypotenuse.

also, in the pythagorean theorum, a^2+b^2=c^2, c is the hypotnuse and a and b are the other two sides.

The Hypotonuse is the side opposite the right angle (90 degree angle) in a right angle triangle.

It is more easily described as the side between the two smaller angles.

A hypotenuse is the longest side of a right angled triangle. It is well known due to being used in Pythagoras' Theorem (A2 + B2 = C2).

it's the longest side of a right trangle, and in pythagorean theorem it is designated as member c.
