It takes experience to navigate the political waters of Washington, not necessarily brains but experience.

In the late 18th century, people had much more responsibility at a much younger age. Many men in their mid to late 20's were holding high ranks in the Continental Army, so age 35 was older chronologically and in maturity during that era.

I think we should leave well enough alone regarding the minimum age, since a candidate in their mid to late 30's would have to carry such support from everyone to be considered for a ballot in the first place. The system will weed out the weaker candidates as it always has.

Regarding a candidate for criteria, I think a naturalized citizen who has been here legally for a minimum of 20 years and at least 35 years of age should be eligible to run for president.

If a legal naturalized immigrant from Austria can successfully govern a densely populated state such as California, he should have an opportunity to run for the Presidency.

During the time frame of the foundation of our nation, the life expectancy was much lower then it is today, and at the time there was no prescribed limit to the number of times a president could be renominated. Therefore, I believe that by setting an age limit to the office our forefathers were trying ensure that the future presidents would not only be well versed in the needs of present day America, but would also be limited in their length of office.
