Whether you believe he was God or simply a man. Whether you are religious or not. Jesus was still a historical figure that lived 2000 years ago. He had a major impact on the world. How has he changed it?

Jesus was not a "myth". He is in the history books. We learned about him in my "public" high school. I've seen historians talk about him Discovery Channel. There is no doubt he was real, the doubt lies on whether he had supernatural abilities or whether he truly was the son of God.

H.G. Wells
British author (1866-1946)
"I am an historian, I am not a believer, but I must confess as a historian that this penniless preacher from Nazareth is irrevocably the very center of history. Jesus Christ is easily the most dominant figure in all history."

It seems as though you may already have made your mind up by your additional comments.
If you take away the religion surrounding Christ he was a revolutionary and a nationalist.
At the time of his rise, Judah and Israel were well under a very bitter, cruel and ruthless Roman occupation and were well subjugated.
Jesus was quite adamant that his disciples carry swords and he openly associated with the "sicari" , a militia group who were fighting for freedom from Roman oppression.
Like most revolutionaries he was betrayed by the people he sought to free for a small gain.
there is no doubt since his death much chaos and mahem has been committed in his name , but also a lot of good has been done by well meaning people.
Faith in him , misplaced or not has given the hopeless and forlorn new hope and a brighter future, his name has helped people to give up drugs and alcohol and find a greater purpose in their lives.
like many great revolutionaries he became a victim of his own time and has helped shaped todays world, whether that is for better or worse is a question of your perspective.

IMO he brought Hebraic ideals up to full competition with Hellenic ideals for the soul of Western European culture (morals, artistic ideals, etc.).
Without Jesus (or maybe more accurately the Apostle Paul), the Bible would be just the books of the Jews. As a small example, we (Gentiles, goyim) wouldn't have the pursuer of Moby Dick named Ahab, or the stories of Adam and Eve... we'd have descendants of Aphrodite and Apollo vieing with Odin and Thor, or something.
But King Jesus is less a warrior than a moralist and law giver, so it's an important import to the cultural stream... The shifting emphasis in this dialectic between Hebraic and Hellenic ideals underlies much of the cultural history of the West and continues to this day.
IMO it's so weird, the virulent anti-Semitism over much of Western Europe over much of its history. Because Jesus is the ultimate exemplar of Hebraism, and the virulent anti-Semites weren't carrying the banner of Hellenism, quite the opposite, they thought they were the true People of the Book.
Sorry to be so abstract, can't really write a PhD dissertation on it here.

He has changed more than anyone can imagine. Many of the borders in Europe today are that way because of the rise of Christianity. The different constitutions of the last milleniums have all been influenced in some way by Christianity. Jesus still influences American poltics, about 25% of the electorate is believed to be Conservative Evangelicals.
There have been numerous wars fought and im sure that many great things have been done in the name of Jesus as well.

He sure started a hell of a lot of wars, that's for sure. Whether you're religious or not, its pretty obvious to see that more war has been made in his name than peace. And, whether you're religious or not, Jesus was NOT a historical figure. He probably never lived in the first place. The myth of Jesus is what we remember today. The people who wrote about him have more of an impact than anyone.

jesus wasnt religous. he was a humanist. people used his life and death to gain control over other people. He is probably one of the most mis-quoted celebrities in history. think about it...if martin luther king had given his dream speech to a country full of illiterate people...the word has to be spread from person to person with each remembering it a bit different each time. this went on for over 30 years before it was ever written down. How accurate could it be? The first Pope said that jesus left it to just him to start his true church. (no girls allowed)Which then became the superpower of its time, and justified to itself immeasurable and unspeakable cimes against it's fellow man. In Jesus' name? I doubt he'd agree. From what I understand, he was a pretty passive guy. God on the other hand...what a war-monger---read the old testament I'm not makin this up. power hungry men are still impacting the world as a whole. and will be its demise. then maybe we'll get jesus to speak on the matter

Jesus was indeed a historical figure, he gave the best speech on human relations, family relations and the right attitude toeard material possession. Quoting his speech Mhandas Gandhi od Indian said that if everyone on earth could follow the teachings of Jesus the world will be a better place. Today after 200 years of his speech people still refer and made excerpts from it.

I think his impact and influence on the world cannot be really imagined or even stated...There are so many people who are believe and who don't believe (just the average man) who's stories have never been heard or told. Many people started wars because of their beliefs in him, but either way, his influence is immeasurable. Those who follow his path and do as he did are not cruel, not abusive, not discriminating (hence one of the reasons I find Christianity very hypocrital..even though I am one), so those who say he allows bad things to happen forget that we do have free will. I know that in my world, he has changed it for the better.

He has made His believers go all over the world and tell people about God and this has made a lot of people become Christians who weren't Christians before. God has use Christians in different and just by reading the words of Jesus in the Bible it can inspire Christians to go and make disciples all over the world like Jesus has His own disciples.

Dear sleepyguy,
You must have just awakened from a long sleep or be that daft. The fact that people are not walking around in broad daylight killing each other, choking each other and stabbing each other is testament that hes had some affect on us all.
You are either really naive or profoundly stupid, for even asking such a llame question.
