doo wop? come on, take it a few years into the future and get some of that motown... marvin, the temptations... hard to beat! for the best of both worlds i'd go with sam cooke. he influenced many of the great musicians of this century. in an interview bob marley said he could pick up southern radio stations in Jamaica at night and sam cooke had a huge effect on his music. if you aren't familiar with him, or even if you are, check out:
