i have 24 active pills and 4 placebos. (im on Yaz). will my entire cycle just be bumped back 4 days? so instead of getting my period on a certain day, it'll be 4 days sooner than that? and instead of starting on a sunday, i'll start on a wednesday?

you won't get your period until you stop the actual birth control pills
there really isn't any harm in doing so, but if you want to do this regularly, ask your doctor about a birth control pill that is meant to stop your period completely
also, the blood doesn't 'build up' bc the pills prevent the lining from doing so.. when you take the placebo you go through 'withdrawal bleeding', [the point of which is to put your mind at ease-- if you were worried about getting pregnant and started to bleed when taking the placebos, you would most likely be ok]. This bleeding is due to the changing levels of hormones in your body, NOT a real period. So you won't really be 'backed up'.
When you change which day you take the placebos, you may not get your period immediately when you start taking them bc your body is readjusting. With time it will become more 'regular' but it should not stray too far from the day that you begin the placebos.

if the last active pill you take is on a wednesday night, that means you must start on a thursday... so you aren't a sunday starter, if i understand you correctly.
let me tell you how it works for me - i start my pack on a sunday night. i take 3 weeks worth of birth control, and that means that normally i would take my last pill on a saturday night (Sun Mon Tues Wed Thurs Friday Sat x 3) ... then normally I'd be taking the 7 sugar pills, again, Sun Mon Tues Wed Thurs Friday Sat. However, if I'm skipping the sugar pills, that just means I start a new pack on that Sunday night.
It means you're just taking 6 weeks of birth control in a row ... for me it would be Sun Mon Tues Wed Thurs Fri Sat x 6, then finally the sugar pills starting Sunday night.
If I've misunderstood how you use them, add some info and I'll re-answer.
Edit: Sorry I'd never heard of a 24-day pack! Then yes, your cycle will change days. Make sure you mark it down on a calendar so that you don't get confused on the next pack, etc.

If you choose to skip your period, that's fine. You can skip up to three months in a row with out danger. It's not really recomended, as your body needs to get rid of the old blood. When I was getting ready to get married, I was due to start my period the day before my wedding. My doctor told me that I could skip the week of placebo pills to delay my period, so I could enjoy my wedding and my wedding night. I chose to continue taking the pills regulary after that.

You really should get the ok from your DOCTOR before skipping the placebos. If you've got then, then kudos to you!
Even skipping the placebos you might not skip your period. And it might take a few cycles to get back on track if you do (took me MONTHS to get regular!).

It would depend on how often you do this. I would only skip it if it's absolutely necessary. It may change your cycle a bit, but as long as you are regular by the days..like 28-33 day cycle, you will have nothing to worry about.
