Oh man, there are TONS! Just a few examples: I'm confident, so I must be arrogant. I'm blonde and/or I laugh a lot, so I'm obviously a ditz. I wear glasses, so I have to be smart & nerdy. (Yes, I do get stereotyped as being both airheaded and intelligent.) I'm a nerd, so I must like sci-fi & fantasy... I actually HATE sci-fi & fantasy!!! lol, I haven't read or seen LOTR, Harry Potter, Star Wars, or any of the other hugely popular sci-fi/fantasy stuff, by choice! : P

Then there's the big one: I'm LDS (Mormon) so I'm... A) a polygamist, B) well-off financially, C) judgmental or quick to condemn, D) socially inept, or on the opposite end, charming & popular... and that's just the beginning! I can't even begin to list the 2,486 other stereotypes that come along with being LDS.

It depends on what kind of experiences someone's had with other members of my church, but the stereotypes vary widely. They range from "She must be easy" to "She must be completely frigid", neither of which are true. "She must not have any ambition" (while being a wife and mother are the MOST important things I want to do in life, they're far from the only goals I have!!!), or "She must've married young." I'm not even married yet, lol.

Along with the stereotypes, there are outright misconceptions (the polygamy thing fits into this category; I just realized it's not a stereotype so much as being misinformed) or people mixing Mormons up w/other religions -- Amish, Jehovah's Witnesses, even Hindu and Catholic.

Anyway. Yeah, there are a LOT. Some are true, some far from it, but it doesn't bother me too much. I am what I am, and if people stick around long enough, they'll find out who that is. : )

I think you are taking this a bit too seriously. Stereotyping is a type of prejudice, and it's completely absurd how people can be so quick to judge others on their appearance. But it's a human defence. It can be completely unfair and sometimes lead to a completely inequitable resentment - but if someone where to walk up to you in a dark alley holding a knife, you would be frightened, wouldn't you? Your better judgement would tell you to leg it in the other direction. The poor bloke could be walking home from the late shift peeling an apple, but you don't know that. Perhaps the "goths" or "emos" around your area are known to be violent, and are clearly known for being on drugs, so your friends instincts are telling her to stay away from them in case they are dangerous. She's frightened. Don't be mad at her, because it's an instinct. Stereotyping is just a modern word for a clique of people, and you just so happen to dress the same as some of the people who frighten your best friend. She knows you don't do drugs and that you aren't violent, but she doesn't know them. They're strangers who appear mysterious and intimidating, so of course she's going to be cautious. You can't say you hate stereotypes, because that is nothing more than a modern word for predjudice and we're all guilty of that at some point in our lives. Whether we act upon or not is our own choice, but it's something you can not avoid. And don't worry about high school - once people know the real you then they won't take any notice that you dress the same as school bunkers.. O_o If you haven't worried about it before, it's no use starting now. Hope I helped xxx

Some people stereotype me as a goody-two-shoes and some people stereotype me as a *****. Either way, it's because I'm quiet I guess. Really, I'm somewhere in the middle of those two.

Wow, I'm noticing a lot of people are saying "quiet". The Internet must really attract the quiet folks. I'm quiet around people I don't know (anxiety).

I'm a brunette, so I must be a b*tch.

I'm fat, so i must not take care of myself.

I don't drive, so I must be an irresponsible freeloader.

i'm Polish, so I must be either stupid, or Jewish.

There are lots, trust me, but these are the ones i get the most.
