i dont know if they will make the playoffs but phoenix has their pick in this years draft and it looks like to me that the suns wll not get a top 10 pick if the hawks keep playing the way they are and the suns are probably now thinking about trading it for another player or two that they need.

No. They've been playing a weak schedule so far, so that's why they're above .500.
Charlotte, Utah, Miami, Washington, Indiana... Not exactly the elite teams of the NBA. Either bad teams or teams around the .500 mark themselves.
Talk to me when they beat San Antonio, Detroit, Boston, LA Lakers, Dallas, Phoenix, etc. Until they start winning against the GREAT teams in the NBA, the wins mean little.
------
As for beating Dallas and Phoneix this year. WHOOPIE!!! Dallas was the first game of the season and Phoenix was without Amare Stoudamire. And let's go through the season already:
As expected, with the exception of a lucky home opener against Dallas, a Phoneix win short Stoudamire, and Orlando (who had their 2nd worst Field Goal Pct of the year in that game), Atlanta lost to all the teams it was expected to lose to:
Losses to good teams: Detroit (3x), NJ, Boston, San Antonio, New Orleans
Were roughly even against teams around .500:
Washington (lost 1 of 2), beat Utah, Indiana
Beat a couple of very weak teams: Philly, Memphis, Charlotte, Utah, Miami
But lost to a lot of teams they should DEFINITELY have beaten:
Seattle, Milwaukee (1 of 2), Chicago, Minnesota (1 of 2), Toronto.
In short, they have had a weak schedule so far, but lost to most of the good teams, beat some bad ones, but lost as many to bad teams as they ended up beating. I'm not saying they can't improve, but the win/loss record so far hardly shows they can consistently perform well. If anything, the losses to Miami, Minnesota, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto and Milwaukee show the opposite. They have been inconsistent and lucky. maybe they'll get better, but the season so far and their quaint little 5 game streak tell us nothing.

Will the Hawks make the playoffs? In a word, no. In the event they do, do you seriously think that a team with too much youth and close to no depth can hang in there for a five or seven game series with a proven eastern conference squad?

More than half the teams in the East suck, it's near impossible the Hawks can't make it to the playoffs this season.

The only way I see the Hawks not making the playoffs if they have injury problems but other than that the Atlanta Hawks are goin to playoffs this year.
