This is a very good point to bring out. The 1987 strike cancelled one game and three others were played with "scabs", replacement players. Some players did cross the picket line early, but Rice was not one of them. He did in 12 games what is taking Randy Moss a full 16 games to do. Who knows...Rice might have wound up with close to 30 TDs if he had played those other. We'll never know.

yep 12 games during the 1987 strike season, plus rice only did it with 60 some odd catches. as a bay area guy, even if moss breaks his record, rice's will still stand in my eyes because he did it in 12 games. moss will need all 16 plus about 90-100 catches to do it. that tells you how dominant the 49ers were and tells you how great rice was. rice is the greatest receiver of all time and always will be.

Yes, a strike shortened season. As good as Moss appears to be, he's no Jerry Rice. Moss lacks the work ethic & commitment. Rice worked very hard to be the "Greatest of all time." Moss is only good when he's surrounded by a good "team". He's been known to "take plays off", & that is NOT the mark of a "great" anything.

o screw randy moss, the only reason this question has been brought up is b/c of the trade. this wouldn't even be a question if he stayed in oakland and would've quit his bitching. jerry rice is the greatest all time wr no questions asked no arguements. o and btw ppl have already gotten this down pat it was the year of the strike.

there was a strike that season, so there were only 12 games, and he pretty much dominated in those 12. he could have potentially had 30 if there were16 games
