news sources do you check before you draw conclusions? Or do you just regurgitate what you hear on the nightly news ?

We are so isolated from the reality, surrounded by noise, lights and luxury we can easily forget about what goes on outside our cocoon.

Regards.

I get it from all angles. From C-Span to NBC, BBC, the internet, and too Fox. CNN, ABC, and CBS fall in the middle. MSNBC has it's place too. Yes, I remain ILL informed but I really just do the best I can. I wish more Americans were as interested in the life that their great grand children (whom aren't even born yet) will have as I am.
I have been guilty of regurgitation in the past, Live and Learn is all I can say.

I'd have to say that the best source is history. For those whom forget the past are condemned to repeat it. (Abrahan Lincoln)

You can never be all-informed. No one can.
However I like to aim so I'll be at least above average. Informed-wise. I try to read political views and current events by everyone that has something to write. - Even those with views I strongly, almost violently, disagree with.
If I've lived in a country where something is going on I try and keep my personal opinion of it while continuing to become well-rounded in the aspects I wasn't able to experience.

If I know little of a place in a news story, and have never been there, I make it a priority to read up and become semi-knowable about it.
Another thing which I think is very important is to listen to peoples world views. It's simply amazing what you learn.

Generally I also try and know the most I can about Geography. - I think it most crucial, especially for today's world. I'm still lacking in many things, I'm just trying the best I can not to be blissed by the only way I know how.
Listening, thinking, keeping a septic, but open hungry mind.

You know, the media can be very exaggerated... They do this because they want their ratings to go up... It's still business after all... It's always about business... The truth may set you free, but it won't give you a dime... So in the end, the media, and everybody involved in that field of work would tell the truth, even if they have to make it up...

I often have wondered that some question myself. People have been programmed to believe that the nightly news is the ONLY truth...even though those with half a brain cell know that it is not and actually investigate the information themselves.

Watch C-Span for your news...it is coming directly from the horses mouth then and it isn't cut short so that you miss the real intent of the politicians comments.

I don't consider myself ill-informed and I try to never regurgitate anything! Some just might consider you to be ill-informed. It depends completely on an individual's point of view.

Usually check as i find the liberal media is biased and instills fear in the public and attempts to shape the way people think and perceive things. If we took every report they did seriously, society would not be able to function normally.
