Has anyone noticed that the "above the influence" commercials are actually referring to the consequences of alcohol instead of marijuana? You know, like "Oh I can't believe they took that picture, I must've been 'high'!" Or "Oh God, I ran that little girl over because I was so 'high'!" Do people really think that marijuana breaks down your judgement and motor skills or is this just government propaganda at work?

There is research on the subject, but it doesnt reflect what the commercials claim. Marijuana doesn't do any of that, at least certainly not to that extent. Those commercials are an out-and-out lie. While marijuana does affect memory, it doesnt cause you to forget things like picking someone up from school or such.

THC does alter your perceptions and inhibitions; it also effects your motor skills.

There is plenty of research on the topic.

When I saw the commercials for the first time, especially the one with the girl who had a crazy Saturday night, I first thought the ads were referring to alcohol abuse. While I do believe that marijuana impairs your judgement and someone under the influence of marijuana should not operate a vehicle, the idea that someone would just lose all of their inhibitions because they were high is ludicrous. At least anecdotally, people who are drunk are more impaired, mentally and physically, than people who are stoned. The only regret I've heard people express after smoking is that they shouldn't have eaten that third slice of pizza - never I shouldn't have taken off all of my clothes and let someone take a picture of me.

The government is wasting so much money on these ads because of their firm belief that marijuana is a gateway drug. There is some evidence to support it, but not so much evidence that it should abandon its efforts in trying to prevent teenagers from using harder drugs, like cocaine and meth, which can become addictive after one use. What a waste of my taxpayer money.

I'm tired of these ads if you ask me. People know what is right and wrong. To be honest people know about the circumstances from both of these substances. Stop wasting money and supply people with food for the poor.

just more crap from the government just like whatthef%ck is up. This is another type of moral thing that the government wishes to push on people who do not have morals. YOU CAN NOT LEGISLATE MORALITY!!! anti-drinking did not work and this war on drugs will not work, we have lost the war!
