Well, the big problem, will come in the next couple weeks, if they can keep it going.
First step, is finishing the season, and going 16-0.
Second step, is not having the usual letdown some clubs have, with the week off....I've noticed a lot of clubs seem to find a way to hibernate, and then get caught off guard.
Thirdly, will be winning the big one.
Right now, they're still chasing the dolphins, on the chart for number one, same way, that they're trying to become the second team to go undefeated. And granted, with the generational gap, a lot of people will still say, the dolphins were better, considering they had a lot more brutal football back then, went 17-0, and did that with a QB injury, and no one that stood out...but if you put the lot together, they'd excel.
Some of the other clubs, that would get into the top 5, would probably be the 1986 Bears, with the 46 Defense....a Joe Montana Super Bowl murdering of the Broncos...the Raiders dismantling of the Vikings, back in Super Bowl 15, had them at 16-1.
The Pats are poised to do something great, but it'll be interesting....for example, what happens if Brady goes down hurt? Could the backup take them to glory?

Dolphins 1
Bears 2
49ers 3
Raiders 4
Pats 5th
Pats could move up to 2nd, if they win it all.

Well to tell you the truth they are a great team but facts are facts right and this 07 SEASON had some very WEAK TEAMS
ONLY THE COLTS were able to put up a fight
eagles and baltimore caught lucky breaks and almost beat them but its true THIS YEAR there was no NEW emerging powerhouse if this was 06 with the same team they have now in 07 the patriots will probably be 13-3 so yeah they are the best but the only good teams they beat were dallas and the colts everyone else was really weak i would rank them in top 5 best teams but not number one if they win the superbowl in a blow out then they are 1 !!!

Records and stats aint everything. The 1978 steelers and 1985 were physical. They would manhandle brady and his recievers because back then they could knock down a reciever at any point in time. QBS and WRS werent protected like they are now. If the Patriots had to play under those conditions now, they wouldent be so hot.

That being said, the 1985 bears and the 1978 steelers are the 2 greatest teams all time. Im not a fan of either franchise, but I do recognize those 2 as the best. The Patriots would be top 5 in the list somewhere.

I am not a Pats fan, and do not consider them cheaters. That spying stuff happens all the time, they just got told on...

Anyway, if the pats finish 19-0, they have to be considered the best team ever, period.

And it will be hard to ever best that...QB with the most TD passes, WR with the most TD catches...etc...assuming that happens.

I have a lot of respect for Belichick and the Pats. And I am not on their jock...I hope they meet my Skins in the Superbowl and lose...But I don't really see that happening.

My point is that I just don't see how anyone can disrespect them. They are disciplined and go out and execute better than anyone. What is wrong with that? Is that not what you are supposed to do....be the best?

I think so.

On a sunny day, they would beat any team that ever played. They would lose to the old Cleveland Browns with Jim Brown on a nasty, muddy field in a snow storm.

Things are different today with domes and all the rule changes.

3rd if they don't win the Super Bowl and don't make the AFC Championship Game ; 1st if they win it. Maybe 2nd if they win w/1 loss or make the AFC Championship Game. Really, the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears of their good seasons could probably beat them.

too early for the coronation. They have to win 4 more games. I will be yelling at the screen for them to win them all, big. But until they do, they have unfinished business. Even Bill Belichick would agree with that.

If they win it all -- all time best, period. For all the reasons you stated, and simply because they will have done what no one else has done.

Mind you, if they don't win the big one, it's a moot point.
