My mother suprised me by buying me a pair of seven jeans from macys. They fit the waist but are the relaxed style, meaning they are looser than the other ones. But enough about that. They are a little loose around the thighs and i wanted to wash them to see how they fit after they shrink. I figured I would just take the tags off, and iff they do not shrink enough i wll put the tags back on and return them. do you think they check for that stuff? will they accept it if they find out i washed them? i wouldnt normally care but these are very expensive and i would not want to get stuck with them if it turns out i dont want them. I know the best idea is try out the other styles at the store but i am very anxious and just want to try. well if you work at macys or have had a simular experience let me know if i can wash them and then return them. thanks

That would not be cool. Even if you got away with returning them, just think about it- would you want to go into the store, pay full price for jeans that someone has already had on, and washed? you should not have washed them if you didn't like them! That is no different than if they had been worn all day or even twice, then washed and retrurned. Maybe you could trade them with a friend who might like them, or sell them to someone. It is just like someone who buys an expensive evening gown - wears it to a party, then returns it. Then- basically the next person ends up paying full price for a used garment-not fair!! And kind of disgusting if you really think about it...

I've worked everywhere from Nordstroms to Marshalls and yeah... a good sales person can tell if an item has been worn. It depends on the manager rather the employees are strict on obeying the stores return policy.

Your best bet: RETURN THEM UNWAHSED WITH THE ORIGINAL RECIPT AND TAGS

Allot depends on the store policy, usually once you wash the garmit it can no longer be returned to the store, even with the tag on it. The store clerk will be able to tell that the pants have been washed because they won't be stiff like new and they will be wrinkled

I worked at Mervyn's for one Christmas season,& they would not allow already washed items, unless some kind of defect(like they fell apart at the seams when you washed them.)
The best thing to do would be just to return them & get a pair that really fit you. I'm sure that your Mom would rather you do that than to wash them & probally not be able to gwt an exchange or a refund.

if depends who returns them for you. most of hte time those people dont look twice. so i think youll be ok. they work for minimum wage, so they dont care that much. if they refuse, try another regisiter.
