I believe it starts as Romantic Love and after awhile it becomes Comfortable Love, and later it becomes Stagnant Love if you don't work on it.

I think for the most part eventually it becomes more comfortable, not because the 2 people are any less in love or any less attracted to each other, but after so long life tends to take over. When you build a life with someone there's always something going on. There's bills to pay, kids to feed and take to soccer practice, just life stuff like that.

I think for very few individuals romance lasts. There still remains a love and commitment to provide for the needs of each other, but the element of sex usually fades away. It is great if the romance fades evenly for both individuals, but not too great when one partner still has a spark and the other is burned out. I know the feeling first hand.

It moves. And your idea of romance changes too. It used to be the notes on my car- now I think it's romantic that my husband sets up the coffee pot for me and gets my commuter mug ready every morning before he leaves for work. You can have romance, it just isn't as frequent or spontaneous. Sometimes you'll find you have to make an effort, make it a priority but it is worth it.

It can last, it can diminish or it can even GROW. Romantic love isn't just about moon, June, and flowers. It's feeling an overwhelming surge of affection and admiration for that other human being, just knowing they're on this earth.

I think it is a roller coast and we do the romantic stuff for a while and then we coast and we do some more romantic stuff and that is the way that goes.

My beloved and I are into ten years and it is good.

I am one of those fortunate people whose parents loved each other and thru my growing up years saw them fall in love deeper and deeper...was great to see...so I know it can last...not always easy...but yeah, it can last. I have seen that!!
