Ok i have a nvidia 6600gt 256mb and i just bought a 8600gt 256 mb

with those specs how much of a difference is this going to make. for games like cod 4

You will get roughly double the number of frames per second. It will make the difference between unplayable and playable.

I have both cards, and it is a massive difference.
When I ran 3dmark with the 6600gt it got like 8-10fps, but the 8600gt gets like 55fps.
The 6600gt could only do medium or low settings in the games I played and the 8600gt can max out almost everything, it runs FSX on high very well.
You will be pleased.

Hi. You will have to install it and see but in my experience there is no such thing as a GPU that is TOO fast.
