SOLVING FOR X WHATEVER IS IN FRONT OF THE X IS WHAT YOU'RE SOLVING FOR EXAMPLE.

2x+12
the number two is in front of the variable being x so when a number is right next to the variable you'll do the opposite operation its set up as a multiplication problem so you'll divide by two on each side. Dividing 2x by two cancels out whatever you do to one side you do to the other so twelve divided by 2 you get six so the answer 6x. hope this example helped.
