All of us lie, at one time or another....even those who claim to always tell the truth. There are different kinds of lies - the hurtful lie, the little white lie, the big - big lie. So I guess it depends on the severity of the lie, did it hurt someone or cause damage. In some cases, a lie might save someone. For example: a robber says "is there anyone else here", and you say "No", with three kids hiding under the bed in the upstairs bedroom. There are times when lieing could literally save a life. Bottom lie: What kind of lie and why.

It's always essential to tell the truth, but there are ways around telling a lie if you are trying to answer a question that might hurt someone.......Sometimes it's better not to answer at all........

It Depends;
If it is Legally or Morally significant - Tell the truth, if telling the truth is Legally or Morally significant.
If it Ethically or Religously significant - Tell a lie if it is Ethically or Religously significant.
Either way, do the option that makes you feel right, in yourself.

Any man who ever had a wife knows there are times when a well-meant lie is essential.
Consider that obligatory 'fib' reply when asked if she still looks gorgeous in advanced pregency.
Alright, rub that one out...some women are even more stunning in that third trimester.

I try to never lie. If someone asks me if I like their dress and it looks weird on them I would say "it's a nice color". I think that sometimes things will hurt people and are better left unsaid. So if they don't ask, don't tell.

yes....sometimes blunt truth can do more harm than a sweet lie....there are occasions where a lie would be better than truth...for instance to a dying patient...a doctor cannot say the truth since the truth would kill him first before the disease...the doctor has to lie to the patient....likewise there are hundreds of occasions where lie would help than truth.....

There is a third option. Say nothing. Consider whether they have the right to know, or need to know. Privacy is a right!
