Here is a third take on this question, because in their own right, both of the first two answers are accurate. If it is a question about the knowledge itself, ask to get an immediate response when you are puzzled, don't wait. If you are looking for fast on-line responses, daytime in the USA is right, however, if you are referring to Yahoo! Answers in general, then here is the answer I gave some months back on a similar question in which I was chosen as best answer by the asker:

People all around the globe ask and answer questions in Y!A. There is always someone on-line somewhere. You can post a question at 3 O' Clock in the morning and get an immediate response from someone. The real key is for questions going to a vote. If you ask a question at 3 O' Clock in the morning where you live, that is when it will expire and go into a vote, with the vote time expiring 48 hours after that, at 3 O' Clock in the morning! If you want the responses to be more meaningful to you timewise, then ask them during your daylight hours, say around 4 or 5 PM. By the time people settle in and have their dinner, they will be ready to go on-line and burn a couple hours answering questions. Best wishes and good luck.
