depends on your age. if you are under 18, your parents will have to work hard to help you become an actress. if you are over 18, you need a mentor. in the latter case read my profile and contact me at my aol address for free help.

Knowing people may or may not help.

Usually they're worried about finding work themselves!

The thing is building skills, usually in college and live small stage, building a resume, having a head shot and getting work that $$$.

In Los Angeles it's still possible to make $20K a year doing non union extra work.

In NYC it's possible to get cast in a Soap as a small part

The more work you do and the more you are known the easier it is to get a real agent who can get you more work.

You get Union eligible and then you can audition for anything the agent gets you into or you learn about.

But have your $2,500 ready to buy your union card, you need it for the second day of work. One payment, certified check.

You $600 day players check is 2-3 week away and they take out taxes and you have to pay your agent $60 from it.

Once you go union yu can't do non union extra work anymore. So yo lose that $20K a year.

Maybe yu can get in as one of the 12 union extras, but that's going backwards.

Acting is a talent one person has to have to make it big in the industry just having contacts will not be of any benefits, yes u can always try to achive ur dreams but first u will need to make a portfolio of urs, then tere will be screen tests and many things if u really want to make ur dreams come true u can try few sites which offer to cast or even few acting schools help u mould as a better actress

If you haven't gone to college yet (or even if you have), you should look into schools with good theatre programs or conservatory schools specifically for theatre.

If you don't want to go to a college, most cities have acting classes, and other performance style classes that you can get involved in. Also, if you haven't already, get a start in community theatre, and read plays, and watch classic movies. It's important to have a solid background.

Feel free to message me if you're looking for more specific info.
