when u shoot try to keep your elbow straight, and get rotation on the ball, to practice this lie on the ground with a basketball, and with one hand "shoot" it, it will help get used to shooting in this form, also when u shoot keep your eye on the back of the rim, not the front

It has the same principle as shooting a rifle or shot gun. If right-handed, your left hand is your guide hand and your right hand the trigger hand. Your right hand does all of the work, your left does nothing more than hold the ball in place. Make sure that your palm of your hand is not on the ball..ball should not touch this part of hand. This takes away wrist action on follow through if palm is on the ball and flattens shot out.Find the air hole on the ball...this is where your index finger on your shooting hand should be. Everyone does not shoot the same but be consistent in what you do. It will be uncomfortable at first but keep working at it and you will get better!

Simple Tips that will improve your shooting drastically:
(assuming your right handed)
Holding the ball:
1) Find the center of the ball from left to right, & put your pointer finger to the left of the center while your middle finger is on the right of the center.
2) When holding the ball up ready to shoot, leave space between your palm and the ball. (one finger is the right amount of space)
Body Position:
1) Bend your knees like your ready to shoot, then hold your shooting elbow at a 90degrees angle above your right knee.
2) Your feet should be shoulder-length apart with your right foot very slightly ahead of your left foot.
The Shot:
1) Release the ball with only your pointer and middle fingers.
2) Get good back-spin rotation when the ball is in the air.
3) Shoot with arc. Approximately 3-4 feet higher than the rim.

hey! i had the same problem. turns out, the more people you practice with, the easier it gets. just make sure to have a light touch and you practice shooting one handed. if you can make one handed shots...two hands is gonna be a peice of cake. practice is all you have to do. and start by shooting the baskets you know you can make, and then gradually make yourself use to the harder spots. :] good luck!

First do you have a brother? If yes, then you can play a friendly match with him, and when you play try shooting, but not all the time sometimes go post up and stuff..... It worked for me, probably will work for you. Good Luck!
