I am hoping to get a breast reduction in 2008. I have been told I have to lose weight before I would even be considered for surgery.
I have always been large even when I was at my thinnest. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Breasts come in many shapes and sizes and a persons thinness doesn't have anything to do with it. Alot of it is genetic. Some women's breasts get larger if they gain weight. Some women are able to have their breast surgery considered medical. When you go for your consultation, ask the surgeon to submit your breasts photos and a support letter from the surgeon to be forwarded to your insurance company to see if they would consider it medical in nature and pay for the surgery. The insurance companies determine their decision on the patients height, weight and breast size. Other items they may take into consideration is if you have other letter from other health care professionals who have treated you for related conditions such as shoulder pain, back pain or skin infections. It may not work but it's worth a try. So many woman are so happy afterward.

Good luck.

I had it Feb 2006 and I don't regret it one bit! I'd do it again if I had to. I have no more back pain thanks to this surgery, and I can work out without getting black eyes from my breasts bouncing!

I have a TON of information for you if you want to send me your email address.

You do not necessarily have to lose weight before surgery. It really depends on how picky your insurance company is. I was not required to lose weight, see a chiropractor, or any of that stuff.

If you are overweight, losing weight before surgery will help and you might lose some in the breast. I was slightly overweight, but working out and losing weight did not help me AT ALL in the breast!
