You and Jack C and Y should all chat about this compelling subject that has plagued mankind since the first Ivy League school was opened on Long Island......which I believe was Nassau Community College.

there is no Ivy League school on Long Island. The closest Ivy League school would be Columbia University, in NYC. Just b/c a school is private, expensive, doesn't make it Ivy League. The female equivalent are the Seven Sisters; though most, though not all, of both have gone co-ed.

They clearly are not Ivy League schools. Yes, those schools may be private and have high academic standards but that does not earn them the title of "Ivy". Most people have never even heard of the schools that you mention unless they live in the region. The Ivy League schools include: Harvard, Yale, Princetion, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, UPenn and Columbia. These schools were established 150 or more years ago and have earned their titles through reputable research programs and true academic excellence. They are globally renowned while LIU and Adelphi are not. I'm sorry but just accept the fact that the schools you are mentioning are not Ivy League.

Dude, you asked this earlier and all kinds of people who knew what they were talking about answered. You clearly don't know what an Ivy League school is, and there are none on Long Island. Really. Whether you want to believe it or not! The best schools on Long Island are Stony Brook and Hofstra. Adelphi and LIU are acceptable schools, but they are neither Ivy League nor, if you broaden the category, are they considered elite schools.

Actually, they are not Ivy League. The Ivy League is not a catch all description for expensive exclusive universities. The League itself is an athletic league, like the Big 10 or the Pac-10. The schools in the ivy league are:
Harvard
Yale
Cornell
U Penn
Dartmouth
Brown
Columbia
and princeton.

The two schools you mention are ECC (Division 2) schools, not Ivy league schools.
There are no Ivy League schools on LI. Being private and expensive are NOT the criteria for being Ivy League.
The Ivies are:
Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island
Columbia University in New York, New York
Cornell University in Ithaca, New York
Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire
Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey
University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut

There are only eight Ivy Leagues and none of them are in Long Island. Being hard to get into or being expensive doesn't make them Ivy League because those things apply to a lot of schools.
