i dont understand why people get abortions.
im not trying to insult anybody...
but idk..
a lot of people get abortions because they arent ready fo a baby or to be parents...
just because you get an abortion doesnt mean you're not still a parent..
cause you are.
your just the parent of a dead baby.
you could just put it up for adoption.
and i can kinda understand that some people get it when they are raped..
but idk...
whats your take on abortion?

sandrine.
im not treating them like criminals.
i never said anything mean about people that have had abortions.
my step-mom actually got an abortion,
and i dont hold that against her.
i haven't treated her any different than i did before i found out.
i just dont understand why people dont take responsibility for their actions.
i understand that some people are under pressure when pregnant, but when they had sex, just because they didn't expect it doesn't mean they didn't know the consequences.
...and im sorry if this question offended anyone.
the point of this question was not to get people mad or insult them or anything in that manner. i was just wondering.

Because they do something that they should not have done and when they end up paying the consequences they don't want to face it. What ppl don't realize is that life isn't all games and ppl loose sometimes.

I think there are many reasons why people get abortions.
1.Some are selifish and frankly, don't want to be parents or raise children.
2. Some are teens (or would be young moms) who are scared and don't feel like they have a support system.
3. You mentioned some are victioms of rape.
4. Some feel pressured from bfs or husbands to abort.
5. Some already feel like they have too many children or that they are "done" having children.
6. Health problems of the mother, like cancer.
I don't believe in abortion. But I can understand that sometimes women do feel scared about being pregnant. And if like it is their "only" opition. It is a nerve racking time even when you are married and have the support from your family. Imagine having the extra stress of having to go threw that "alone" or feeling like you would have to.
You do have to remember that not everyone understands/believes that babies are really babies while they are still in the womb. I can't judge them for that.

Do not judge! Ive noticed that a good amount of teenagers these days are pro-life. This must be due to the lack of sex education. When I was in highschool the teacher was pro-life and refused to teach about abortion, which is not fair because it IS an option. Abortion is never going away, so people might as well except it. While it should not be used as a form of birth control I do believe if there is a birth defect that is detected early on in the pregnancy it is up to the parents as to whether they want to terminate the pregnancy. Our soldiers in Iraq are exposed to depleted uranium which is said to deform sperm and cause missing limbs for their babies. It is a human RIGHT. Dont be so ignorant little girl.
Edit: I can tell you are a teenager because your grammar is so poor. What are they teaching kids in school these days?

This is a very difficult topic.
I believe that the majority of abortions are performed for convenience and that's a shame. It's unfortunate that people can't take more responsibility over their lives to prevent this from happening. Some people are just baby factories, others just make stupid mistakes. With the amount of birth control available, there's really no excuse for the amount of terminations that occur.
I would not want to restrict access however, I would support how far into a pregnancy you could terminate.

There are risks involved, and it is important that you understand how the complications and side effects can impact you. There are many possible physical complications which may include: infection, damage to the uterus, infertility, increased risk of future miscarriages, premature births, and an increased risk of breast cancer.
"Incomplete abortions occur too. Read Gianna Jessen's life story, who is the survivor of an incomplete abortion."
Psychological complications are often experienced by women who choose abortion. After an abortion, both women and men can experience: depression, low self-esteem, crying episodes, nightmares, anxiety attacks and difficulty in personal relationships. For information about how abortion might affect your future click on “Psychological complications”.
Are there long-term effects from an abortion? The after effects of abortion can be painful. It is normal for women and men to grieve after a pregnancy loss by miscarriage or abortion. Hope after abortion will help you understand the healing process and receive assistance for you or someone else dealing with a prior abortion experience.

I am against abortion. I know that there is circumstances that warrants it. But if it can be avoided. Please do. Some people has said that that baby is not alive. Well I don't believe that. If that baby wasn't alive then it wouldn't be growing and kicking and everything else it does in there, like have a heartbeat, feeding off of mommy. When my wife was pregnant, one of our kids would wake me up at night kicking against me. If you don't want the baby, go the full term, then give it up for adoption. Please don't kill it. I'll take it. HANNAH MARIE, WHAT PEOPLE DON'T CARE ABOUT OR THEY DON'T REALIZE IS THAT THEY WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS. WHAT U ASKED IS A TOUCHY QUESTION. HAVE A GOOD DAY

I think that if a person can afford a baby and is old enough and mature enough, but gets an abortion is really stupid. Now, if a 16 year old girl is raped and gets pregnant that's a whole other story. But if the only reason you don't want a baby is because you simply just DON'T WANT it, it's completely stupid. Babies would someday be moving, breathing, eating people who deserve to have lives.

There are many good reasons a woman may choose to have an abortion:
* She is not ready to become a parent.
* She cannot afford a baby.
* She doesn't want to be a single parent.
* She doesn't want anyone to know she has had sex or is pregnant.
* She is too young or too immature to have a child.
* She has all the children she wants.
* Her husband, partner, or parent wants her to have an abortion.
* She or the fetus has a health problem.
* She was a survivor of rape or incest.

i think that people get abortions because they are
a) too young to be pregnant and not ready so they get one not understanding how horrible it really is.
b) because they are selfish and they think the baby will ruin their good time
c) because they didn't think about adoption first
d) because they don't know that sex causes babies (sorry that was a little sarcastic)
who knows what's goin' on in their heads. i just know i couldn't live with myself if i did that and i have TWO BEAUTIFUL KIDS to show for it that i wouldn't give back for all the money in the world

I think to each his own. If someone chooses to abort a pregnancy then they have to live with that decision. each situation is different and I'm sure people who choose abortion dont go into it without serious thought. I feel like unless you are in the situation its really not your right to judge. I gave up alot having my daughter in my teens and I had a great family support and stayed with my bf and later married him but there are sooo many unwanted/surprise pregnancies and the baby ends up mistreated or neglected. That's even more heartbreaking to see.

This is the parenting and pregnancy section. You're in the wrong section. Take this to the politics section, because that's what it is. Politics. People here want to talk about their children, not debate, or even discuss abortion. Why do people think this is appropriate?
Edit: Idiot? People answer it because it's a sore subject, especially in this forum. People here have had miscarriages, tried to concieve for years, have children who have died, or have had abortions themselves and it's a sore subject. And for the people who haven't had any of the above, it's just stirring up the pot and angering alot of people who come here for advice. If you just want to "discuss" abortion, the politics section is where you do that. I'm not an idiot...I know where to post questions correctly, and I don't ask questions that are going to knowingly anger or incite people. That's not being an idiot...it's having class. Grow up (you are only fourteen and know nothing about being put in a situation with no way out) and stop name-calling.
Edit: We know how old you are..."I'm 14 and havent' gotten all my teeth yet??" You know, people can see your questions and answers. Nice try.
