It's easy to complain about it but then again i wear leather shoes and eat meat, so that would make me a hypocrite. As long as they (the animals i mean) aren't treated cruelly, it seems ok, especially if you're in a cold climate.

I'm not sure exactally. It's cruel in a way, but then, it depends on what type of fur. Leather is better I guess, because the cows are killed anyway, for their meat, so you might as well use the skin for leather. But, saying that, I get really, really sad when I go into castles and things - historical castles, and see tiger skins, or stuffed polar bears from the past etc. I am pretty much against anything from animals - not cheese, milk, eggs etc. But, things where they kill the animal for it. Remember - once the buying stops, the killing will too. So, about your question, it really depends which fur you are talking about. But, heres a little advice. There are lots of Animal activists out there which will stop at nothing to save animals, and stop animal cruelty. In some parts of the world - you could be killed because you wear a fur coat - especially if it's a big one. Just, be careful!

I honestly don't have a problem with it if the fur is from an animal that was specifically raised for it's fur, and treated humanely in it's lifetime. I do have a problem with the killing of baby seals as they have been stolen from the wild, and never had a chance to grow up. Much as I love animals, I do feel a sense of resentment toward people who would let a bum freeze to death on the street while on their way to a PETA meeting or fundraiser. I'ts complex.......

Most fur products produced today are from animals raised by humans as opposed to being trapped for their pelts. Fur has been worn by man forever and without it, we may not be here today discussing the matter.
If you choose not to wear fur or leather, or eat meat for conscientious reason, that's great. I hope you get a real sense of satisfaction from your decision but chastising others who do not subscribe to your beliefs is negative energy toward your cause. Spend your energies educating instead. Awareness will eventually bring change.

BTW: the licensing and permit fees hunters pay do much more for animal and habitat protection than activists who would end hunting.

The only fur one should wear is the fur that is ones own. It is not right to kill a creature just for you to look better. All life deserves respect..cause in the end all life is really one

At worst, pretentious.
But, what's the big deal. We all use animal body parts!! Get rid of the fur, and youse guys would be after something else.

Do you know we have more forests in the US because of the market for paper?
So do not assume we are diminishing the population of some animal due to fur.

My hsuband wears his fur to bed every night ... he's really hairy and looks like a grizzly bear. I love fur ... as long as the 'original wearer' is still in it! For people who like 'fur' they should wear 'faux fur' and not real fur ... it's less expensive, it's easier to care for, and you aren't taking an animal's SKIN to wear when you have a perfectly good skin of your own.

With all the faux fur available, I think real fur is best left on the animals.

They must be able to afford it. I don't consider anyone evil for owning a fur coat or one with fur trim. People who own several fur coats just for show rather than need--I have a problem with them.

i do not believe all fur wearers are bad. some, i believe are people who appreciate the beauty of the animal.the animal fur trade is never going to stop and while i do not have the money to own one of the many beautiful furs i have seen in my life, if i had one i would cherish it for the animal who died for it. i love animals and would never hurt one. the way i see it is they were already killed and on a hanger in a store. i'd rather see them on someone who appreciaates the beauty of the animal than on someone who just likes to flaunt their looks and money at the expense of the poor creatures who were born and bred to be slaughtered just for their fur.
