I felt the same way at 17. Be open to the world and it will open itself up to you in return. Try everything and anything. I went from math, to skateboarding, to magic, to paintball, to marines, to detective, to inventor, to scientist, to businessman, to forensic investigator, and have finally arrived at race car driver. I went through all of those, and I am only a few years older than you. You will feel it, trust me. Good things come to those who wait.

Hello:

Well it depends on who you ask, but I do not think that life itself has an inherit meaning, however our role as people is to look at the world and see not only what it there, but how we would like it to be.

Here is the thing, if you're 17 then you are still probably in the middle of finding your place in the world, let alone developing how you want to shape the world.

I would say to relax and take a couple of deep breaths. If necessary thing about what is really important to you...then try and find a way to do more in that area...ask people for help, ask more yahoo questions...you know.

I hope this helps

You're 17 -- a lot of people don't know what their purposes are at that age. You do have a purpose, it may take some time for you to sense just what that purpose is.
What do you want out of life? What are your dreams and goals? When you're able to answer those questions and go after those things, you will have found your purpose.

You say, you don't have a purpose.

It is possible, although highly unlikely, that asking the question;
"OMG!! I DON'T HAVE A PURPOSE?"
;Is your Purpose.
That may be the highlite of your life, if you came into being for a single reason.
There again,You may be here for another reason entirely. What that purpose is, 'I don't know' and I put it to you. That NO-ONE else does either.
So 'Take What Comes and Roll with the Punches', which means;
Accept what you can't change, change what you can and Try to Learn and accept the differences.'

i am the same age as you, but i have found my purpose, or at least what i want to do with my life and am working towards my goals.

first, you should really just relax, and think about your life so far. what do you like to do? what do you want to be? what do you want to achieve? be rich, famous, great, kind, the nicest person, popular? there are so many things you can be and become in this world, so it shouldn't be too hard to just first find what you like to do and if you want to continue doing that. or making yourself become someone you admire, or etc. i found that one's existence is all based on what THEY want to do with their lives. no one can help you or force you to become something. situations/people may be able to give you purpose, but it is all ultimately up to you and your own choices, free will.
if even after lots of thinking, and you still haven't come to a conclusion, that just means that you have not decided what to do, and it may be a sign that you aren't ready or life isn't ready for you. just wait until the time comes, and when that time comes, you will know the answers to all your questions. expect and know that these answers will come and will be the best choices/options for you and they will come on their own time. do not rush or feel rushed to find these answers, because you're still only 17, you have many years ahead of you to find your true purpose.

i hope my advice helps, and that you find the answers to your questions.
good luck!

We have no purpose. You must make your own purpose. There is only meaning and purpose in life if you put the purpose and meaning into it by living it, creating, loving, learning. I give my life meaning daily by simply being, making art, breathing, laughing, experiencing . The meaning is in the doing my friend, whatever the meaning and purpose it is different for each one of us, you have stumbled on a universal truth with your meditation, keep at it you will surely discover more. Seventeen years is not long, 17 was my favorite age...

Why do you need one? Who told you that the idea of 'purpose' had anything to do with being life?
Who or what is supposed to inform you about this purpose?

The idea of purpose, point and destiny are intended to pressure you into ensuring the continuation of society / culture. All of these 'purposes' seem to involve impacting society or 'others' in some way. So, now not only are you 'not good enough' that you must have a purpose, that purpose is to help others who are 'not good enough'.
Isn't being life good enough?

It's a fraud.

If you let the energy flow through you instead of around you you will realize that you exist to be you and no one else. The Universe or Creator or Whatever must want you around and must want you to be exactly what you are... you. He could not have created a more perfect you and now it is up to you to make it better. If you do that you have in part fullfilled some sort of purpose.
