If you eyes are a source of x-rays, you'll need to be on the other side of the subject to see it. If you eyes only detect x-rays, you'll need to place an x-ray source on the other side of the subject. There are soft x-rays which only penetrate clothing and hard x-rays which penetrate even bone.
If you just want to make the clothes disappear, buy an infrared camera.

x-rays don't pass through denser objects as well. X-ray vision you see in flims isn't based on science.

it all depends on the density of the object. the less dense it is, the more you can see through it. human skin, for example, isnt very dense, and doesnt reflect that many x-rays. most of them go through it, and it appears clear. bone and metal are much more dense, and reflect most of the x-rays that are sent out, so they appear much brighter.
