in the next month im going to get the chance to audition for 2 small roles in big studio films.

I'm nervous about what to wear. obviously i want to be comfortable. i'm a 21 year old college student. i want to look like myself, but not too fancy. and i definately want to look professional. any suggestions?

maybe i should mention that one of the movies is set in the 1800s. so dressing up like the character probably isnt much of an option.

a family friend used to work in the buisness. she managed her daughters carreer for a while until she decided that acting wasnt for her and she wanted to be a teacher instead. her daughter has done a few movies and things so i know she got her jobs. plus ive known this woman my whole life, i dont really think she'd rip me off. and im a smart girl. i know not to pay for anything or go anywhere alone. if i go anywhere alone, i always bring my trusty pepper spray! lol.

First of all, you rarely want to dress as a character for an audition. You can suggest it (example - auditioning for Dorothy, wear red shoes... NOT RUBY SLIPPERS, just red shoes that suggest the idea) by what you wear, but never dress as the character unless instructed to.

Basic classy black is always a good start. Wear the Little Black Dress (LBD) with something that suits your personality to help you stand out (a colorful scarf, fun shoes, etc).

Also, Theatre Doc is correct - make sure you know who and what you're auditioning for. It's, unfortunately, a bit of a dangerous and questionable profession and you have to be careful.

OK, who got you these auditions? if you do not have an agent, beware! if you have an agent they will be happy to tell you how to dress, but since you don't know that, i suspect you don't know what is going to happen at the audition, either, and that means you do not have an agent. I constantly worry about people getting scammed, see my answer to the question above about the kid in the mall. Look, be on the safe side and let me know how you got the audition and what company is runn- ing it and we can make sure you are not headed fpr trouble.

Well hopefully the both of these roles are in two diff. movies. Then you can see how people are dressed in the first one and make it a learning experience. Otherwise I suggest going conservative but in the theme of the movie.
