My son is 14 weeks and he sleeps about 4 hours at night with a mid-night feeding. Just curious about what month they start to sleep through the night. Thanks

My daughter began sleeping through the night at about 3 weeks old. I talked to her pediatrician about this and he said not to be worried if she reverted back to waking in the middle of the night -- she never did though and she is now 1 year old and still sleeping through the night.

There is no set age for when babies will start sleeping through the night. Some will sleep from day one, while others still wake up after their first birthday. My son would sleep 6 hours at night when he was 2 months, but then was up every 2-3 hours when he was 3 months. After his 3 months growth spurt, he would sleep 5-6 hours at night again, until another growth spurt.

Depends on the baby - my son was 4 or 5 months old- but my daughter didn't until after her 1st bday- doc said they need to weight between 15- 20 to sleep though the night( my daughter also a twin, her sister slept though the night around 9 months)

My first started at 2 months and kept sleeping thru the night during teething. My 5 month old was at 2 months also but he started waking up when he was 4 months old b/c he has more teeth coming in. I'm so sleep deprived it's not funny anymore.

Mine did at 8 weeks.........she was fed every three hours during the day (reflux) and I discouraged her from sleeping ALL day. She napped, but I made sure she had plenty of awake time too. she was a sound sleeper at exactly 8 weeks. I will never forget that because the first night she slept all night was the day I went back to work. When that alarm went off I was TERRIFIED that I had not heard from her throughout the night......I tore into her nursery like a mad women to find her sleeping like an angel........been sleeping all night ever since.

This will vary. A good rule of thumb is when the baby doubles it's birthweight it has enough fat stores to be able to sleep 6 to 8 hours in one stretch. Once your baby reaches double his birthweight, you can train him to sleep through the night. it goes like this.
1)increase his daytime feedings by one in the morning and one in the afternoon. (do this for about 3 days before going to the next step) If he is an on-demand nurser, just offer him the breast an hour or so before you expect him to be hungry.
2)on the first night put him to bed well-fed, and dry but not ASLEEP. He WILL cry.
3)Go in and comfort him for a few minutes to quiet him, but DO NOT pick him up. Once he is quiet, leave the room.
4) He MAY cry again. This time go in and just pat his bottom for a few minutes... leave the room whether he is crying or not.
5) IF he cries again, wait 15 minutes (it seems like forever) then go in and settle him.
6)continue comforting him in 15 minute intervals, but DO NOT PICK HIM UP until he goes to sleep.
7) when he wakes during the night, make sure he is dry, but do not take him out of his crib, and go through this rotine again to get him back to sleep. Keep the lights and your voice very low.

Keep this routine up for at least 5 days. The first night will be HORRIBLE, but the next night will be much better and by the end of the week he should be sleeping through the night (at least 6hours). It worked with all 3 of my sons.

There is no "set" month. All children sleep differently. Some people say at 8 weeks, some say at 3 years. It all depends on your baby. Mine is 8 1/2 months and wakes up still.

There is no set age. They do it when they are developmentally ready to do so. Keep in mind that 5 hours is considered sleeping through the night.
