try introducing similar things and gradually introduce new things here and there. My parents gave my brother baked potatoes and cooked baby carrots for a long long time after he was done with the baby food and it was really hard to introduce him to meat, but they would just add a little bit here and there until he got used to it and pretty soon after he was eating the meals that the rest of us were! Good luck!

I agree with kleighs mom. At 16 months, he should not be wanting to eat baby food. He should be on regular food at this point in his life, i think. Tell him, no more baby food you are a big boy now. Put the tablefood in front of him. He wont go hungry, he will cry and push it away and act like the world is against him, but trust me he wont die. lol. He will come around very quickly if you dont play the game with him. I went thru the same thing with my kids only it was with a bottle. As soon as they hit 1 year, the bottle went bye bye. OMG the drama. Then we did it again when the sippy cup went bye bye
I was lucky, my kids will pretty much eat anything i put in front of them. I exposed them to lots of different foods when they were little and i insisted they try it. They did not have to eat a big plate of whatever, but they did have to try a small bit or whatever. My sons favorite veggie when he was little,,,, squash mix.... olive oil with summer squash, eggplant, yellow squash with diced tomatoes. Just keep insisting that big boys dont eat baby food. it will get thru to him

How many teeth does he have? Maybe he's finding it difficult to actually chew table food. Are his molars in yet?
Yes, I'd say it's normal for him to prefer baby food. You could, though, play the Cheerios game my husband invented when my toddler Joel wouldn't eat his cereal because it didn't come in a yellow box. Those couldn't be real cheerios unless they were in a yellow box. So my husband took a bag of store brand oat ring cereal and dropped it into the cheerios box. Joel ate them happily and never knew the difference.
Perhaps you can fool your toddler by putting the food you want him to eat in a baby food jar...maybe puree it a little. Outfox him.

Thought you were talking bout my boy for a second, My son always gets like this when he is teething so I try normal foods but he never eats it, to see if it is babyfood try putting tablefood in a jar it might just be that he recognises the jar equals yum food, I have been told it is just a phase and they will grow out of it.

You could try mixing baby food green beans with some mashed green beans that you make for yourself as an attempt to move him from one texture to the next & so on & so forth. Eventually you could eliminate the baby food & progress to green beans just like you would eat.

well he's at an age where he should be starting to feed himself with a spoon. I found that my son showed much more interest in table food whenever I gave him a fork or spoon with his meal. Even though all he's eating is easy to pick up things.

Don't give him baby food and he won't expect it. Use up the rest and offer him table foods. He will eat before he starves.

Just keep offering it to him before the baby food. He will come around eventually.
