I know a lot of people hate her and everything she stands for, but this article makes several good points. Read it and let me know what you think of it.

Good point, Tmess. Like I've been saying for months now, the GOP is in a state of "divided we fall"-edness. They need someone who can draw everyone in.

Ironically, and here's where I disagree with you, I suspect Mitt Romney could draw "business" and "evangelical" Republicans together again, if people weren't so hung up on the doctrines of the LDS Church. His values are those of the evangelical base: strong, traditional families, anti-abortion and gay marriage (albeit recently), and a picture-perfect "First Family". Of course, no one can possibly doubt his business credentials.

I say ironically because he's come under the most attacks from other Republican candidates. Giuliani's hitting him from the left, Huckabee from the right, and McCain down the middle. I suspect they all realize that he is the quintessential Republican, even though he's a Mormon, and none of them are. It's like Huckabee himself said: "When they're shooting at you, it means you're in front."

You're right, xo. I've always thought that her tirades were simply an effort to out-do all the other pundits on the air. And her articles, despite their content, are very well written.

That certainly doesn't excuse some of the comments she's made in the past.

No. Huckabee fits right in the center of the Evangelical Movement -- which is what makes Ann Coulter so uncomfortable with him. If Huckabee does well in the early states, the Republicans are going to have to decide between God and Money. The priorities of the Evangelical wing of the Republican Party have never been the priorities of the business wing of the Republican Party. Up until this point, "conservatives" like Ann Coulter have been able to give lip service to the issues of the Evangelicals and then proceed to the real issues that matter to them (tax cuts, military spending, dismantling FEMA and the EPA). If it comes down to a decision between Rudy Giuliani and Mike Huckabee, the ability to play both sides of the fence will disappear. Republican conservatives know that this choice would be deadly to the unity of the Republican Party.

If Huckabee were the nominee, the business interests in the Republican Party would fear an economic policy that was not dramatically different from the Democrats and real action on the issues that matter to Evangelicals (on which many business Republicans have a different position). Some of the business Republicans would find Hillary a better President than Mike Huckabee.

Likewise, many of the Evangelicals would walk if Rudy Giuliani were the nominee since this would prove that the majority of the Republican Party did not really care about the issues that matter to the Evangelicals.

As such, "conservatives" like Ann Coulter know that they need to eliminate Huckabee now so that they can push forward an alternative to Giuliani later. The only problem is that there is no acceptable alternative to Giuliani that would satisfy both wings. Thompson was supposed to be the alternative but he has run a lousy campaign. McCain is not acceptable to either wing. Romney is not acceptable to the Evangelicals due to his religious beliefs.

Coulter is an idiot. She/It hates Huckabee for the same reason she loved GW, he's playing to the population who he thinks will get him elected. With GW it was the christian conservatives, with Huckabee it's the Independents and the more liberal conservatives. I'm not a fan of Huckabee but he isn't dumb. He realizes all to well that to campaign solely to the religious right will get him no where, America has experienced that nightmare the past 8 years with GW and no longer have the desire to be used and abused again.

It only confirms what I already knew about her. She writes articles that excite her uneducated fans.

The typical right winger feeds on hysteria, and a place where non-sense is all the rage..Fox News Central.

What points did she make...that she hates liberals...Oh well big surprise....and the reason? Because to her and those who think like her the warm embrace of corporate America is more Important than humanity's.

As more people become acquainted with the reality behind the veneer of lies, the Bush administration, large corporations, the wealthy elite, and powerful lobbying groups are slowly losing their grip on power as the tide of public opinion rises against them, here and abroad.

The Aliens and the Predator from the movie of that name both come off as far more civilized and educated than the Wicked Witch of the Talking Heads.

Well...even if she does make sense ever, and even if she is very nice in person (I met her and she is lovely--I do think that the horrible person she seems to be is a persona), I can't forget what she has said in the past.
