I've seen films where its been suggested that we are not alone in the universe. It was said that a cover-up has been going on for years, and I was wondering what you think.

You do not need to guess. You can look at the many pictures on line. Not only pictures taken by American space craft. Russia, China, Europe and Japan have all send space craft to take pictures of the far side of the Moon.

You are a victim of a common misconception. There is no dark side of the moon. What the heck do you think the far side of the moon is doing when we have a new moon? It is completely sunlit.

The only time it is dark all over is when we see a full moon.

I am not sure why people can't get this into their skulls. The moon is visible much of the time for cripes sake, and you can see the various sunlit bits of it via the phases.

When you see a half moon, don't you realise the other side is half lit also? Is that too hard to understand?

So, there is no dark side - just a side we do not see from earth.

However, the Russians photo'd it way back in the 60s. Then with the Apollo moon shots, the moon was orbited hundreds of times.

And as for cover-ups - somebody invents something (like Area 51 holding alien craft) and then because the government doesn't deny it (and why should they if there is nothing there), people say "cover-up". Do you see how stupid that argument is.

Hey, there are fairies in our town park. I know its true because the town council won't deny it.

Do you see how perfectly stupid that is?

In fact your whole question reeks of stupidity. Time to grow up (and learn something).

There is no dark side of the moon. There is a near side, and there is a far side, but all of the moon is illuminated by the sun during the course of a month. As for what is on the far side, it's just more craters. Lots of photos have been taken of the far side, and you should have no trouble finding them on the net.
Regarding cover-ups of alien activities on the moon, I consider that unlikely in the extreme. For some reason, certain people are fond of making such wild accusations, but I give them no credence. Show me some hard evidence, and I may change my mind.

First of all, there is no "dark side" of the Moon. All parts of the Moon receive equal light. Probably you mean the far side of the Moon.

The far side of the Moon is not much different from the near side, as has been shown from decades of detailed studies of the entire Moon by orbiting satellites. Certainly there are no "alien bases" on the far side; those films are total and obvious fakes.

"The dark side of the moon" isn't actually always dark and it's not mysterious. We call it the dark side of the moon simply because it always faces away from us.

It never rotates into view because the moon completes one rotation per revolution. So as it revolves around the Earth it rotates such that the same side always faces us.

Consequently, the "dark side" is fully lit or partially lit as long as the moon isn't a "full moon".

You can see photos of it if you do a web search.

There is no mystery about this. Any number of space probes have orbited the Moon and taken photos of the far side of the Moon. It is similar to the side we see: mostly craters and highlands, but interestingly has fewer of the flat, smooth mare regions that are on the visible side of the Earth. No need for conspiracy theories here, we have been observing the far side of the moon since the 1960s.

"The dark side of the Moon"? It sounds like you mean the "far" side of the moon. Look at the pictures taken of the far side. What do you think?

The dark side of the moon has been comprehensively mapped. It has more craters than the side facing Earth, but otherwise is pretty similar. There is no secret conspiracy there.

Technically, there is no 'dark side' - at least, no part that's dark all the time. But there is a side we can't see from the Earth. That's why we sent satellites up there to look. Kinda looks like the side we can see.

NASA and the Russians and the Chinese all have sent probes around the moon to take pictures. If there was any evidence there which is being covered up, they'd all have to be in on it.
