The original quote was by Frank Lloyd Wright, and it was also said by John Mason Brown, American literary critic, who said “Some television programs are so much chewing gum for the eyes.”
"Bubblegum for the eyes" has been used by a variety of people, and just recently a reporter/critic speaking of The Golden Compass said it was so much "cotton candy for the mind and bubble gum for the eyes"

Well, Wally I believe the exact quote is, "BUBBLE GUM" for the eyes. Bubble gum indicating the age, intelligence and depth level at which it was programed for.
I believe it was either Marshal Macluen (the media "IS" the message) or Buckminister Fuller who said it.
Not Frank Lloyd Wright.
Aaaah, ......but, how true both quotes are,.....reguardless of whom.!
P.S. > Buckminister Fuller, once said, when asked by an interviewer, his opinon of television, discribed it as.......A "VAST" WASTELAND !

Don't know, but its true, though I think of 99% of commercial TV in our day as junk food for the soul. Garbage in, garbage out.

I like that! But, sorry to say, I don't know who said it unless I research it. Did you get a new book for Christmas?
