I have the same problem but I just ask a question they will know(cuz we all know there not to smart jk) and after that you can just bring up a subject they might be interested in (make sure that day you look really pretty)or you can even bring up a subject that is super stupid alot of guys like girls like that

You just go for it. Believe me, a shy guy is NOT going to care how you approach him. He'll just appreciate the fact that a girl is into him.

Flirt with him.
Smile, make eye contact. Bump him a little bit "accidently." If he seems to like it, than maybe head over to him and start a casual conversation.

It's really easy trust me, just walk up to him and say "Hi!" You could say something like "Hey, I saw you in my math class and I was wondering if you wanted to maybe have a bite to eat sometime?" Well, something like that...
