Hi...much depends on what you eat and when you eat.
Medically it doesn't sound like an ulcer. Worrying that it may be, however, can give you one. You don't give your age either, an older person sometimes can have acid reflux disease. Goes along with being older and overweight and usually years of abusive eating....

You don't say how long you've been suffering. Does it bother you after EVERY THING you eat??? Or just certain foods?
Does it matter what time of day it is when you eat? Are some times worse than others?

I would keep a list of everything (I mean EVERYTHING) you eat, the time of day you eat it and how you feel after you eat and how much time passes before you feel bad.

What do you weigh? Are you overweight?

Some people suffer after dairy products, others after spicy foods, and others after fatty foods or foods that are fried, even
snack foods as pizza, chips, etc. Any fast-food is extremely bad for a bad stomach....lay off them all for awhile and see.

You need to nail it all down. Always sit upright for at least 1 hour after you eat. Never eat and then lie down. If you see a pattern, try to alter that pattern and see if that helps.

Chew 2-3 Maalox after you eat and IF you feel symptoms. They may help. Meanwhile, don't skimp on that record keeping. It's a MUST. If you can't find relief after a week, you need to see a doc and it would certainly help to have him review your records. Seriously. Good luck.

I am an RN

Only an examination by a physician can give you the correct answer. But generally an ulcer can be aggravated by eating typical foods (hamburgers, spicy items, sodas, alcohol, etc). Ulcers can and usually are painful when they act up or you eat foods that are not bland (bread, milk, yogurt) in addition to the symptoms you describe.

Best to have your doctor run some tests.
