then shouldn't you be against abortion for any reason...rape, incest, health of the mother?

If you start agreeing to abortion for certain reasons, aren't you agreeing to murder the unborn child? So shouldn't people either be for abortion or against it, with no exceptions?

This question would sting if I believed it was always wrong to kill a human being.....fortunately I don't labor under that illusion.

If you believe it is wrong to murder a child in the womb, then shouldn't you also be ready to take that child away from its mother if her actions endanger it? Any child...anywhere...at any time? Of course right-thinking folks like you will get to decide when it's necessary.

I'm presuming you're totally against the death penalty under all circumstances too.

What's your position on a defensive war? All those invading soldiers were babies in the womb once too you know.

Would you even fight to defend your own life, or the lives of your family? You'd be killing another person....shouldn't you be totally against that too?

Why don't you come down off that pedestal, and live in the real world with the rest of us for a little while. People don't always do the right thing, sometimes they they do the wrong thing once and make sure they never do it again.

That doesn't mean you should be setting the building they are in to talk to somebody about it on fire, or blow it up, or shoot medical personnel as they go in and out.

They all used to be babies in the womb once upon a time too.

I am for abortion ONLY if the mother's life is on the line. I personally wouldn't abort in that event, but I have to respect the woman who has to make that decision for herself. She may have three more children at home, with a husband waiting for her, and it's either abort this baby and still be there for her other children, or risk her life (and possibly the life of the baby she's risking it for). In the case of ectopic pregnancies, it's not possible for the baby to be carried to term. The fallopian tube will rupture, killing both mother and child. There are just some no-win situations. Sometimes in life we may be faced with the choice to kill to save our own lives. It's a sad fact, but a reality.

I oppose abortion for any other reason, including rape and incest.

What I find more funny is so many scream about a woman's right to have an abortion, but yet no one is out there campaigning for the right of the courts to sterilize/castrate the men that commit the sexual offenses causing some women to be put into the very situations you discuss. I think that many women would be saved the choice if the men that commit these crimes were "dealt with" in the first place.

A pregnant lady's system is nutritional support for a developing fetus. Fetus is not a "living Soul" due to the fact that nostrils are plugged and all sacred scriptures declare that the breathe of life is necessary for the body to become a living soul. A fetus is totally devoid of consciousness and unable to be independent of the umbilical cord "nutritional supply". Abortion is simply terminating developing tissues. But if the fetus is birthed and the breath of life is inhaled into the lungs then the body becomes a living soul and infant. If the lungs have no interchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide then their is no living soul, and is only a glob of flesh. I can use scripture and prove abortion is not murder.

When siamese twins share a vital organ, one of them must die in order to save the other, or both will die sooner than later, in a more painful way.

Well... the same thing happens when the pregnancy is really jeopardizing the mother's life, and even in those cases, some mothers are willing to take the risk in order to save the unborn but LIVING child.

In case of rape, thanks God I haven't been in that situation and I will tell you only what I THINK would do if that happened to me... I would have the child, but give him/her in adoption. It would be traumatizing enough to be raped, to carry also the trauma of killing my own child who had nothing to do with my rape, I'd like to know he/she was safe with a loving family.

Rape and incest cause children who may be born with not so great characteristics/attributes, however that is no reason to kill them. But, if the health of the mother and child are in danger how can you decide who should live? A life is a life.

Having in abortion is a cowardly way out of an inconveniet situation. God inteded life to be a sacred thing that is not to be destroyed because, more than likely, you got pulled into an extremely avoidable problem.

The last time I checked I was still in control of the contents of my own uterus. How can you make a reproductive decision for a woman you don't even know? A medical emergency is discussed with one's doctor, not the Pope, the Congress, the Supreme Court or Preacher of the Week. People are living in a fantasy world when they think they can make serious decisions about a woman's uterus! An individual is in control of medical decisions and procedures. If you can't name all of the conditions in which a reproductive decision and procedure is necessary then you have no right to judge a woman or pretend you have power over her reproductive organs. Control freaks, religious fanatics, unabombers, and the misinformed and uneducated are not going to make any decisions affecting my body.

It seems logical to me to decide when life begins, and at that point, decide when it would be acceptable to kill the child.

If a 12 yr old girl is raped & hides her pregancy from her parents until she is 6 months old, that would be tragic, but I see how aborting a 6 month old fetus would be any worse than killing the child just after it is born.

But I don't think life begins at conception, so I think it would be fine for any woman to have an abortion early in the pregnancy.

I am going to tell you something when I was 15 I wrote an essay on reasons against abortion and I got top marks it was so good apparently that it was displayed on the main corridor for everyone to read. However when I was 27 I had an Abortion for reasons that I won;t go into. It wasn't done lightly but I must tell you that people have their reasons and it is a hard decision to make.
