Put on a rubber glove, get it moist, not too wet, and run your hand over the garment. It picks up the pet hair like a magnet. It also works on furniture.

I use 1 cup of white vinegar to a load of wash to get rid of the pet hair.

dont get rid of your pet!! i got this stuff that i rub all over my dogs fur and then brush them out. it is called shed stop and it works great. i use it on my dogs 3 times a week and brush them out every night, i have noticed a great difference with my dogs and not shedding as badly. i hope this helps.
