We take it down after the Three Kings Day, because it is the tradition to put a shoe under the tree so the three kings can leave a gift in ur shoe. If there is no tree, then whats the whole point of the all christmas traditions.

When I was a kid, my Mother always had us take the real tree down the day after Christmas. I imagine it was getting dry by then. Now, that I have an artificial tree and usually go shopping the day after Christmas, my tree stays up until New Years day. Sometimes a little longer if I party on New Year's eve!

After New Years

We usually take it down the day after New Years' Day. In
keeping with true tradition, I have read that it's bad luck for
you to take it down any earlier. Tho I know I've taken one
down as early as the day after Christmas, if it was a very dry
tree. This year, it will be the traditional day, as we don't have
a live one now. So I don't have to worry about it needing
water or needles falling. That is so nice to not have to worrya
about. But I do miss the smell of a fresh tree tho. But some
haven't smelled at all after we'd brought them home. So I
try to keep that in mind, when I think how nice a fresh green
tree would be, and shrug LOL.
