I don't hate Americans.. I don't agree with your policies. I don't hate your country, but I often dislike the people in it. I don't think you are always right, I think you are wrong a lot of the time. But so is the rest of the world too. I hate your government, and I hate that you support it. I'm not jealous, according the the UN you guys are down to 18 on the best places to live chart. I haven't met an American I didn't like, I can't say the same thing for Europeans (any country in Europe), Australians, or Canadians. (I can go on about other countries as well.)
Does that answer your question?

Edit: Actually now that I think about it there were quite a few rude Americans in the Dominican Republic.

People who haven't had the opportunity of personally meeting an American at a personal level, don't have neither love nor hate for Americans; while those that have, tend to have a very high regard for Americans, as, individually, we are generally friendly, caring and honest.

What most people around the globe hate is US Foreign Policy and the atrocities that our government performs or allows its allies to perform in pursuit of economic or political benefit.

For most foreign people I know, it's very hard to understand why we have double standards (we exemplify fundamentally democratic principles and enshrine civic responsibility in our internal affairs, but our foreign policies actually fight against the rule of law and civic responsibility in international affairs). They also can't understand why we feel military might gives us the right to decide life and death for other nations, leaders and ordinary people.

Really? I'm not American, but I've been to the US twice and haven't met a despicable American yet..Should I look harder next time I visit? ;-)
But seriously this might be because of envy or simply cultural differences. Some people might feel intimidated by your open and friendly attitude or might not understand the kind of love you feel for your own country.

Because of certain things their government does. That and I think that some Americans are full of themselves...but of course, other people from other countries are full of themselves too...Well I guess in the media the focus is a lot on America, that's why.

Because the president of the USA looks like an idiot from here in Australia because our very own ex-Prime Minister John Howard the coward was clinging to him like the drowning kid hanging onto that splinter and trying to float on it.
And the fact that outside countries are shown so many statistics that show Americans as fat and lazy people. Satirical tv shows present US citizens as uneducated people who know nothing about the world beyond the USA.

I am Australian, and i have met a few American people and they have been nothing but nice.
Everywhere in the world, in every country there will be both good and bad people.
Thats just the way it goes
I think that it is mainly the president that people all seem to hate.. i do

Sadly, Bush is supposed to represent what the American
people want. When other countries see what kind of
nincompoop is running the country, they assume we must
all be as pitiful, after all, 'we' voted him in.

Too bad they don't consider that barely half, if even that
many, barely squeaked him into the White House.

Don't blame me, I didn't vote for him.

Because we have it much easier than others, and we take so many simple things for granted. Also, a lot of people dislike Americans because of Bush and how he's handling foreign situations.
