Englisch iz a confuzzing langwage.
The problem with English is that it has accepted people from every country and culture in the world. Over time it also began to use the words of those other cultures so that we have numerous synonyms for words. At times it seems to be a bit of overkill. Crude could sometimes be replaced with
rough,
unfinished
basic
or disrespectful
or crass
or ill mannered.
those words in many instances were adopted from other languages but because they add variety to English they have stood the test of time.
The last time I checked, the English unabridged dictionary had one million words. Most foreign languages have half that many because they have maintained their original words and not had as much "homogenizing" as the USA has.
That's why sometimes I say, "Anglisch ist zo confuzging".
No wonder foreigners have trouble learning it, look at all the discrepancies.
How do you say;
though
through
thought
lean
learn
inconsistent to say the least.
But we will muddle through in spite of it.
Later alligator.................

Crude, as it relates to a person, means not well mannered, uncouth. Rude means disrespectful. They don't mean the same thing at all.
A crude person is one who says 'ain't', while a rude person is one who says 'kissmyass'. A crude person talks with his mouth full, while a rude person says 'eat me'. A rude person cuts in front of people, while a crude person doesn't realize other people are waiting. Get it?

Crude and rude, although in the same category, have slightly different meanings
Rude is ill-mannered while crude is lacking tact
Rude would be to make the jerk-off sign; crude would be to actually do it

Words always mean different things in different contexts. Crude can mean rude, and in that case, they do mean the same thing and it wouldn't matter which word you used. However, crude can also mean "low quality" or "vulgar," neither or which can be defined by rude.

That's a super question. Or is it a superb question? I'm not sure.
I think rude refers more to a behavior, while crude refers more to content. That's my best guess? It really is a weird and exciting world.

Crude in the way that you mean isn't exactly "rude" , though it has elements f it. - Meaning : "lacking finish, grace, tact, or taste; uncultured crude remark."

Different words let you define different shades of meaning, just like different shades of color. Or would you rather wear the same shade of red as 90 other people tomorrow when you go to school? Same red blouse, same red lipstick, same red on your nails, same red shoes....
