Be very care full with fresh manure (anything less then a year old) it can be very high in salts, nitrogen and contain weed seed, especially from horses. Even in Farnham salt build up in your soil could ruin gardening for years to come. Vegetables are especially picky about salty soils from manures.

A better way; grow a cover crop like winter wheat, rye, vetch, oats, then before they go to seed and are still green, til it all under. It will build your soil without any toxic side-effects like manures can. A cover crop will create better soil tilth, improve good soil micro life and give you a natural fertilizer for a couple of years.

With manures you do need to be concerned about run-off of nitrogen's and salts into your ground water, streams, ponds or your neighbors yard.

There are easier and better ways to improve the soil then using manures.

Sorry, I don't know where Surrey is, but Home Depot carries manure for 88 cents a bag.

Look in the phone book for local horse stables... many of them will let you shovel your own -as much as you could possibly want- for free. Likewise with many goat or cow farmers. If you want it delivered that's another story but it shouldn't be too difficult to find. Landscaping supply places and plant nurseries often have it for sale cheap.

Good Luck!

Talk to some local farmers, a lot of them will let you clean out some stalls or even go out to the pasture and get it

You can normally order it by the truckload but I forget from where. Ask local farmers, I guess.
