Do you find that the average human being has a tendency to always try to justify someone Else's achievements or successes as a fruitless goal?

When someone is richer, prettier, smarter, has a bigger house a nicer wife etc. even when you are missing an arm they are envious if you have something or someone worthwhile, why do you think that this is?

I am aware of the Latin Fable essentually saying that the wolf wanted desperately and tried his hardest to reach the grapes on the tree (vine) and when he couldn't do so he said that he hated grapes.
Have you noticed this too, if so when and in what situation?

And what is jealousy? It's all about the fear of inadequacy.. and insecurity. Toxic people... their comments, if not overt, are shrouded in sarcasm. Just remember... this is their problem, not yours.. and you have the power to control it by either walking away.. or detaching yourself mentally. What people don't seem to understand is that there's no shortfall of joy! It's not a commodity to be traded but a torch that can brighten the way. What I've learned, if nothing else.... it's simply more fun on the sunny side of the street with people who 'choose' to celebrate life.. and be kind:)

Much like the fox that couldn't reach the grapes deciding that they were sour, some people (not all) make a great effort, it appears, to belittle everything around them that they don't have themselves. If you are talented it is not something worth doing or they could do it better if they chose to (they never do); if you are prettier they say you are not 'all that' or accuse you of conceit: if you are smarter, you're a 'know it all'; and so it goes. To me this behaviour in someone only demonstrates their own inadequacies. and ignorance. Be proud of yourself and let those people wallow in their own misery!

If you were the creator of a species, supervised its evolution, or were just an evolved organism you would not survive by having a tendency to agree with the course of events. It is the cynic who survives, the ones who find errors in everything, who see that nothing is how it should be and bend everything to their wills.

Beyond envy & greed, most people feel that they live in a world of scarity & that if you have it they have somehow lost it. We have been raised from birth to compete with each other for the prize, to always be the winner. Subconsciously, they feel if you have it, it is lost to them. Win at all cost, get to the top of the rat pile, then you have made it. Oh, & be sure you get it & not share, to give to someone else is to lose for you.

Sometimes it's jealousy, sometimes envy. Sometimes, dissatisfaction with their own lives.
It's easier to find fault with someone else than to find fault with yourself.
I've seen it, gone through it. My DIL hates one of my grandchildren because her children "can't compare" so she finds fault with everything the one does, says, thinks....its pitiful. The same DIL will come and talk with me, occasionally, and I'll mention something I'd like to do, or something I'd planned to make, and voila! The next day she goes, or buys, the very thing we were talking about, but one step up.
I often wonder, if people were content to be themselves what would this life be like?

jealosy is an evil that lurks inside all of us. Nothing is ever good enough it seems. Rare is the person that is happy with whom they are and what they have. It's a competition thing, sadly....sad for us as humans
