I have been debating this for years as I have attended two on Long Island. I think Adelphi and LIU are the best. Narrowing it down to one I find difficult though!

LOL, some people claim that the two schools I mentioned are not Ivy League schools when they clearly are. They are both private and really expensive, catering to upscale students for the most part. Academic standards are high too.

Um...there are no Ivies on Long Island.
Do you know what an Ivy actually is? The Ivy League consists of 8 schools in the Northeast, and was originally an athletic conference. They are some of the oldest schools in the country. Furthermore, the number is set--no more can really be added.
And no, Adelphi and LIU are not prestigious at all, but if you must choose between the two, Adelphi is a bit stronger.

Neither Adelphi nor LIU are Ivy League Schools. The ivies are Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Princeton, Brown, UPenn, and Dartmouth, none of which are on Long Island.
Just to compare, Harvard accepts 9% of its applicants, Adelphi accepts 68%. That is nowhere near Ivy League status.

Well first let me say that there is the literal definition of an ivy league school, then i guess there are schools in which one's personal opinion and experience may lead them to consider the school to be of Ivy league status.
I am guessing that you consider Apelphi and LIU to be of Ivy League status, and on that assumption i will continue to answer your question.
As you have stated you consider some of the characteristics possessed by ivy league schools are
-very expensive
-low exeptance rates
-catering to upperclass students
-high academic standards
Adelphi's maximum average SAT score is a 1760 (out of 2400) and the maximum average ACT score is a 25
Long Island's maximum average SAT score is a 1650 and they do not require ACT score to be submitted.
Long Island's tuition is $25,950 and Adelphi's tuition is $23,000.
Adelphi's acceptance rate is 68% while Long Island's is slightly higher with 76%
So i guess on academic rigor Adelphi is more like and Ivy League, but on the issue of cost Long Island is more of and Ivy league

Ivy League is not another term for "private and really expensive". It is a specific athletic league, made up of a set of eight private universities in the Northeast (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania, and Brown). None of them is in Long Island, and no other school can call itself "Ivy League". If what you are asking is what are the best schools on Long Island, I would say that Stony Brook (which isn't private) and Hofstra are probably regarded as the best overall.

You are aware that there are NO Ivy League schools on Long Island, right?
That being said, the highest ranked university on Long Island is SUNY Stony Brook -- which US News ranks as a second tier university. Adelphi isn't even close (ranked as a third tier university) and LIU is even worse (ranked as a fourth tier university -- the lowest you can go).

Neither of those are Ivy League. Columbia would probably be the closest to Long Island.
