Frankie Miller had a song called "Black Land Farmer," his only major hit, in 1959.

There was also a line in Johnny Cash's "Daddy Sang Bass" that said, "Just poor people, that's all we were, trying to make a living out of black land dirt."

BTW, for those mentioning June Carter, she did not sing on the recording of "Daddy Sang Bass." That was Jan Howard.
